Another free-from food blog? I can already see eyes rolling. Do we really need one more girl who thinks having some instagram followers makes her worthy of sharing her Very Important Thoughts with the world, in the hopes of making profound change and maybe securing a couple of brand deals? Probably not. Are you going to get it anyway? Isn't that why you're here?
With this blog, though, I aim to be a little different. You've probably read that before too. But I promise you if you keep reading you'll see what I mean.
A uni friend asked me to start a blog to accompany my food Instagram account @glutenmorgen__, I thought about it for a couple of months, then disabled the account. A few hours later I started writing this.
Moving away from the filtered comfort of Instagram and cringe-worthy captions (honestly read some of my old ones if you need someone else's embarrassment to distract from your own) is a little daunting, as I'm not really one for publicly sharing my actual thoughts and feelings about things that I actually care about. But I think, in a moment of teenage-existentialist inspiration, it's time for that to change.
Honestly, I got bored. Posting bowls of veg I'd thrown together in five minutes because I couldn't be bothered to cook an actual meal became pretty uninspiring, so I posted less and less until @glutenmorgen__ wasn't what I wanted it to be and wasn't important to me anymore. Time to get out the tiny violins.
I just need/ed a break really - everyone does these days - to regroup, to think about what kind of content I actually wanted to create. I sound so painfully 2019 but bare with me. Being a plant based coeliac really isn't as big a part of my life as having a whole instagram dedicated to just that made it feel - other things (some still related to food) are far more important. That's where I want to take @glutenmorgen__ when I bring it back, using it more of an illustration of my Thoughts on Life, with longer ramblings on here. Obviously food will still be a major thing for me, as I can't exactly pretend having Coeliac Disease isn't a significant aspect of my life, and being plant-based definitely has its discussion points. But they're not the top two bullet points on my ideal 'about me' list and it's the other things that I want to share, with anyone who'll listen really (you are now part of that anyone - congratulations and welcome).
Thanks for being here,
Clara X
